TRIATHALON ENTRY FORM
Triathlon Scoring: Participants will be required to compete in Lure Coursing, Triathlon Conformation Judging & one of the following Team Performance Events (TPE) – Agility, Rally or Obedience.
Prior to competition all participants will note on the entry form which classes they will be participating in. All participants are welcome to enter as many Team Performance Event classes as they desire but only one TPE score will be used. Further, if more than one class within a TEP is entered, the participant must declare WHICH class will be used for the calculation of Triathlon on the entry form. The Triathlon scorer will then collect the relevant scores from only those classes and use the highest scores to determine which scores will be used for triathlon scoring.
Overall Placement:
The scores from Lure Coursing, Conformation and Team Performance Event will be combined to receive the final score for overall placements. The highest scoring teams with Qualifying scores in all THREE venues will be considered first. If there are no teams with 3 qualifying scores, the placements will be determined by the three combined scores (Lure Coursing, Conformation & Team Performance Event). Ties will be decided in the following order: Lure Coursing then Conformation & if needed Team Performance Event Calculated scores. Bonuses will not be considered for tie-breaking purposes.
Conformation: A numeric score will be given by the judge in the Triathlon conformation class utilizing the breed standard as a perfect score of 100. Handlers with multiple dogs need to find helpers to exhibit their dogs during the group portion of the class.
Lure Coursing: Dogs may compete in both the AKC and ASFA trials, however only the highest score from one will be used for computing this portion of the Triathlon. The base score for lure coursing is the total score from preliminary and final runs, regardless of stake entered (Singles do not qualify for Triathlon). ASFA lure coursing scoring will be divided by 2.
If there are two judges further calculations will be made so as to have the total available points be no more than 100.
Dogs DQed, Dismissed or Excused in a coursing event will NOT receive partial points and their score for Lure Coursing will be 0.
Team Performance Events (only one score from the below events will be used in calculating the triathlon score)– Partial scores will not be taken – all NQ’s will receive 30 points
Obedience: The numeric score divided by 2 from any Regular Obedience class will be used.
Final Calculated score plus or minus the below:
Additionally points will be added or subtracted based on the class entered below:
Class Points Added/Subtracted:
• Pre-Novice -10
• Beginning Novice No Change to Score
• Novice +5
• Open +10
• Utility +15
• NQ = 30 points – no bonuses from the class chosen
Only one obedience class will count toward the final Triathlon score and that class must be declared on the entry form. For example, if you are entering a dog in the Veteran class and Novice B class, you can only utilize one class. If your dog has a title or legs toward a title you may not enter a lower class and utilize that score for the triathlon (i.e., if your dog has a CD you may not enter Beginner Novice and utilize that score).
Agility: Total points earned in any Standard or Jumpers Agility trial class. As with obedience, the class chosen for triathlon points must be declared on the entry form.
