The Breeder's Showcase Sweepstakes is sure to be a hit! We have amended the rules to make sure that the SPDB Salukis will be eligible for entry into the BSS!

Criteria for judging the set of Salukis
- The first Saluki in the set must be shown by the person named as “Exhibiting Breeder” on the entry form.
- Entry will consist of three Salukis (no more no less) from at least two different litters.
- The breeder named as “Exhibiting Breeder” is the only one that needs to be a breeder of record for all three Salukis.
- If multiple breeders exist, the order of their names listed as breeder of record on the official registration form does not matter.
- If a person is noted as a breeder of record on another set but is not listed as the “Exhibiting Breeder” on the entry form they are eligible to enter their own set of Salukis.
- “Exhibiting Breeder” need NOT be an owner of record on any Saluki in the entry set.
- SPDBS Gen 1 and Gen 2 Salukis may be entered if the following criteria are met; Exhibiting breeder is a listed breeder of record on the SPDBS registration certificate; and a copy of the registration certificate is included with the entry form.
- (Note: Gen 0 Salukis, being foreign born, are not eligible to participate and Gen 3 Salukis should be registered with the AKC).
- Two of the Salukis must be at least two years of age.
- Only one Saluki may be under two years of age.
- Minimum age of entry is 6 months of age at the time of the event.
- The Salukis can be any sex and do not have to be related.
- The Salukis will be shown as a group with one judge going over them.
- The Salukis do not need to be intact to participate.
- No Saluki may participate in more than one breeder set.
- Saluki A cannot be a part of Breeder A’s set and Breeder B’s set.
- Salukis are not required to be entered in another class to be eligible for participation.
- The breeder named as “Exhibiting Breeder” is the only one that needs to be a breeder of record for all three Salukis.
Nominating the judge:
- For a person to be eligible for nomination as Judge of the Breeder’s Showcase Sweepstakes:
- They must have owned Salukis for a minimum of fifteen years.
- They must be a breeder of Salukis for a minimum of ten years.
- They must have bred a minimum of three litters.
- They must have bred at least three AKC Champions of record.
- Judges from the SCOA Judges List can be considered if they meet the above criteria.
- Only one Judge Nomination from each “Exhibiting Breeder” set.
Choosing the judge:
- The judge will be chosen by random draw from a pool of people nominated by those entering the Breeder’s Showcase Sweepstakes.
- Judges will be listed on an excel spreadsheet and drawn using a randomizer.
- The drawing will be witnessed by another member of the Breeders Showcase Sweepstakes committee and the order of the draw will be posted to the SCOA website to ensure everything was above board.
- If the first pulled judge declines the honor of judging the event, the coordinator will go down the nominated list in the order they were drawn until a nominated judge accepts.
- A judge may NOT receive multiple nominations.
- If a judge receives duplicate nominations the nominator will be contacted for a replacement judge.
- Judge will be announced March 1st or 3 months prior to the date of the National- if the date changes.
- The judge will be allowed to participate in all other events (except Breeder’s Showcase Sweepstakes) at the National in which they are judging.
- EXCEPTION: If the Judge Nominated is also the Futurity Judge, as per AKC rules they are not allowed to participate in any events the same National in which they are judging Futurity. So, they would not be eligible to participate in any other events at the National in which they are judging.
- The Nominated judge cannot be the Puppy, Veteran or Dual Title Sweepstakes Judge for that year’s National Specialty.
- Nominated judge cannot be the Breed Classes Judge for that year’s National Specialty.
- Nominated judge cannot have judged a Specialty, Regional or Supported Entry within six months of the date of the Breeder’s Showcase Sweepstakes.
- Judge’s fee will be $100.00 with no per dog fee.
How to enter:
- Entry fee is $35.00 with entries closing May 1st or 4 weeks prior to the date of the National – if the date changes.
- Complete online form that is on SCOA website giving all information about all 3 Salukis to be presented.
- Required information: list “Exhibiting Breeder”, Judge Nomination & their email address, for all 3 Salukis: registered name, Registration Number, Date of Birth, Sex, Sire, Dam, Breeders (all breeders of record), Owners & Address.
- This information can also be sent via postal mail to the Breeders Showcase Chairperson. Checks to be made out to Saluki Club Of America.
- IMPORTANT: Please verify with your nominated judge that they are willing to accept the honor of judging the Breeder Showcase Sweepstakes and that they meet the requirements outlined in the Nominating Judge section should they be selected prior to submitting their name and email address.

Fees/Awards:
- SCOA will use 35% of the entry fee for expenses
- The remainder will be split 70% to Best with 30% to Reserve
- Breeders Showcase Coordinator’s Duties
- Keep Excel spreadsheet of all entrants and fees collected, send catalog information to the superintendent for publication in the National Catalog, send confirmation to each entrant, notify treasurer of the amount of the payouts prior to the National.
- The Coordinator will confirm the judge’s eligibility and will contact the nominator if the judge does not meet the eligibility requirements or if they make an entry in the Breeder’s Showcase Sweepstakes.
- The Coordinator will not nominate a judge and they ARE eligible to participate in the event.
Criteria for judging the set of Salukis
- Do all three Salukis meet the standard?
- Do all three Salukis exhibit the same good qualities?
- Examples: Good shoulders, good movement, good outlines, good rears
- Judge the set on the good consistencies in the three Salukis.
- Judge the set on what they look like on that day.
- Not on what they could look like in the future (for dogs not fully matured).
- Not on what they used to look like in the past (for veterans).
