SECOND ANNUAL STATE BASKET RAFFLE
AT THE 2018 SALUKI NATIONAL
AT THE 2018 SALUKI NATIONAL
Following last year's resounding success and popularity, we are again offering a State Basket Raffle.
We are hoping to have a raffle basket from every state in the nation (foreign countries also welcome!). Each basket will represent the uniqueness of your state. What is your state famous for? Example: Virginia, hunt country, peanuts, cherry blossoms, wine, and of course Virginia is for Lovers (a fuzzy red heart dog toy).
How the Raffle works: Baskets will be displayed starting Tuesday as people arrive. This year (courtesy of some generous donors!) we are adding Baskets from the states that don’t have Saluki fanciers. These baskets will have a ‘Saluki’ theme. Last year there were 30+ happy winners …..this year we hope to have 50 happy winners!!!
Tickets are priced at 5 for $20 or 1 for $5. All the proceeds are split between Saluki Health Research and SCOA. You write your name on the back of the tickets you purchase. The names are called when the drawing occurs. (no numbers to check!!)
Tickets will be sold throughout the day and SCOA Treasurer Katie Souder will again accept credit cards or Paypal to purchase tickets
Before the Raffle drawing, the baskets will be judged. Winner of the ‘Best Basket’ will receive $50 prize and the photo will be on the SCOA website.
Raffle drawing will be held after Bitch Classes are judged on Friday. Name called first gets choice of all baskets; name called second gets choice of remaining basket etc. Winners only get a minute to make their choices….so you have to have a good idea of which baskets you hope to choose. If you cannot be at the drawing, you can designate a friend to make your choice. We ask you to remain with your basket so that we can get pictures of all the winners.
Last year, several names were drawn more than once. Those lucky people graciously declined to take a second basket. This year, we will have a limit of ONE basket per person so that more people can share the fun!!

Just prior to the start of the raffle, all baskets will be judged. The judge’s choice will have their state basket pictured on the SCOA website and win a prize! The prize, a $50.00 gas card, will go to the coordinator of the state basket!!
We need a volunteer from each state to coordinate your state’s basket. This entails collecting items from other Saluki fanciers in your state to make up your basket. The basket can be anything from a wicker basket to a laundry basket. Don’t limit yourself!!! The Sky’s the Limit!!
If you have lots of Saluki people in your state, make 2 baskets (Southern California, Northern California).
