The Saluki Club of America is offering a Futurity at the National Specialty

Eligible Litters:

All AKC and AKC recognized kennel club registered litters, including SPDBS, which are whelped 6 months prior to the date of the Futurity.

There will no longer be quarterly nominations for the individual pups.

Have a pup from the 2011 Futurity that is still eligible for the 2012 Futurity? Here are your steps:

Individual Pup nomination – on-time if submitted by 12/31/2011
Late Pup nominations accepted with a deadline of 3/31/2012
Complete the 2012 Futurity entry form by the deadline of 5/1/2012

LOCATION: National Specialty at Purina Farms, Gray Summit, MO

QUALIFYING LITTER DATE:
All AKC and AKC recognized kennel club registered litters, including SPDBS, which are whelped 6 months prior to the date of the Futurity.

QUALIFYING AGE OF PUPPIES:
All Salukis must be at least 6 months old on the day of the Futurity, but no older than 2 years of age on the day of the Futurity. Due to the varying dates of the National, we have chosen June 15 th as the cutoff date for puppies to be shown at the Futurity until the actual futurity date is set by the National Show Chair. This will apply to the 18-24 month old classes.

WHO IS AUTHORIZED TO NOMINATE?:
Any of the breeders of the litter may do the first 2 steps of the nominations. Either breeder or owner of the Saluki may do the third step (entry form). If someone other than one of these individuals is doing any portion of the nominations, then a written and signed letter from one of the authorized individuals specified above, giving this person permission to do so, must be sent postal mail to the Futurity Secretary, and received no later than 30 days after the first nomination that this person does. No emails will be accepted for this.

FUTURITY ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS : The futurity requires multiple nominations! Below is the list of nomination steps, the timing, the fees, the requirements, etc. for each stage in qualifying for the Futurity. Read carefully and mark your calendars!

STEP ONE: Nomination of a Litter

Timing : Nomination must be received by the Futurity Secretary up to six weeks post whelping.
FEE = $30.00 per litter.

NOTE: LATE FEE FOR LATE NOMINATION- A litter CAN be nominated after this six-week post whelping date. This fee is $75.00 per litter. CUTOFF DATE: 3/31/2012

How to Enter : Send the following information to the Futurity Secretary. Entries may be sent via postal mail to the address on the form, or via email. Fees must either accompany the mailed form or be submitted by Paypal, using the Web Entry Form below.

STEP II. Individual Puppy Nominations

There will no longer be quarterly nominations for individual puppies. Instead, there is a one-time nomination, using the forms below.

FEE = Individual One-Time Nomination $25 up till the pups are 4 months old. After 4 months old a late fee applies and the nomination fee goes up to $35.00

FUTURITY JUDGE NOMINATIONS & SELECTION

Judge Nomination is included on the Litter Nomination forms:

One nomination only for each litter. (Only one of the breeders may nominate a judge if there are multiple breeders.)
One nomination only for each breeder. (Only one judge may be nominated by any breeder, even if more than one litter is nominated for the Futurity.)
One nomination only for any judge. (No name duplications will go into the hat for the drawing. You will be notified if your judge selection is already nominated and will be allowed to choose again, if you wish.)
You can change your judge nomination choice until December 1st, when the nominations close.

The following people are not eligible to judge the futurity:
A. Owned or co-owned sire of puppies nominated
B. Owned or co-owned dam of puppies nominated
C. Owned or co-owned puppies nominated
D. Employee or employer of A., B., or C.
E. Spouse or member of household

Nominated judges’ names will go into a “hat” and be drawn at random.
Nominations are due to the Futurity Secretary no later than December 1st , for the Futurity of that year.
It is suggested that, just as in nominating judges for specialties, that the Futurity judge nominee be a “Saluki person.”
If your litter would happen to be eligible two years in a row, you may nominate a new judge for the second year.
You have to be current in the Futurity process – including fees and entry information.
Judges will be eligible once every 10 years.
When nominating a judge, provide all contact information.
The names of all judges nominated will be printed in the newsletter, in the order pulled
