“It is not our Beloved One that makes the name,
nor the name that makes our Beloved One;
it is the name and our Beloved One that compliment each other.”

Bachir Bserani — AL MOUSSAMI
“The Giver of Names”

One can travel across the Arabian Desert from North to South and from East to West and the Bedouin, from whatever tribe they belong to, will follow the same guarded ritual of naming foals and hounds. To the Bedouin a name is a Blessing from God that his foal will carry for life. Sometimes a foal will be up to 5 months old before the Elder and Advisor to the tribe will choose a name fitting this beautiful creature.

At night when approaching sundown, every one concerned will gather under the tent sipping tea and smoking the Nargileh (pipe), and discussing the day's most urgent matters. Among them will be the behaviors of the new foals, the color, temperament, and each one's good and bad habits. The younger men will listen while the older Statesmen will discuss suitable names for each foal. And once the majority agrees, a name is chosen and given to the foal by the Elder.
